Training 5/4/09 to 5/10/09; Fast Lane to Breakdown Lane

M/4    8    8mi 55:52 (6:59) 7.3woods+0.75track. w/guys Joey and Rex argued a bit then the pace picked up. I tried picking up the pace a little on the last 400. I'd like to make it a habit to finish with a hard 400. I don't really have anything to work on my speed right now, and I do like finishing hard. This last 400, in 1:29, reminded me that I do not have any speed.

T/5    8    8mi 54:38 (6:52) treadmill. It was raining and cold, We bitched out.
Progression; 7:35, 7:20, 7:10, 7:00, 6:50, 6:30, 6:20, 6:10/6:00. I do like this progression though; 7:16 first half, 6:26 second half.

W/6    8    8mi 1:02:41 (7:50) 7.3woods+0.75 track. had my last lab exam, didn't get to practice at 3, so this run was solo. I went easy, and the last 400 was in 1:19.

T/7    8    7.3 50:16 (6:53) woods w/guys. I think I ate some bad lettuce at lunch.. let's leave it at that. I jogged 0.75mi after the run.

F/8    6    6 woods w/Carlos 44:33 (7:25). Had nothing the whole way. After the run I didn't even feel like walking back to East campus for dinner. Really tired. Ate 5 plates of food at dinner, didn't even get full. Had a coffee but still fell asleep when I went back to my dorm after dinner. I slept for an hour and half, then slept nine and half hours at night. This means my body is breaking down, something that I am excited about, because it means that improvements will come after the recovery.

S/9    0    off for recovery.

S/10    3    ~3 28:55 riverwalk+. Tried doing a 5 but I'm still dead from the breakdown.

    Week Total= 41 miles in 4:56:54 (7:14)

This was my fastest 30+ mile week ever, at the 7:14 pace. Last week I did 40 at 7:40 pace, and a couple weeks ago I did 44 at 8:39. So I've been improving just over the last few weeks, and hopefully this breakdown allows me to go even faster in the future.

I have just two weeks left here in Lowell, then I'm off to summer training. For these last two weeks I just want to enjoy being with the team, and hammer as much as possible.
